1.  You will need a tape measure or ruler, a flashlight and your cell phone.
2.  Climb up your attic stairs or ladder and raise the attic hatch or door.
3.  Stick the ruler into the insulation or with the measuring tape calculate the depth in inches. Record the number or or use or cell phone to take a photo/video.
4.  Compare your results to the recommended R value. If you have less than 13-14 inches of insulation you are below the recommended levels and you will want to consider adding more insulation to increase your home’s energy efficiency.
